Entrepreneurship Project (IST 195)

Over the course of the next few weeks, I will be using this blog to discuss a hypothetical new project I wish to implement. This project involves the creation of a social networking service and website geared specifically towards singer-songwriters.
This website, which I plan to call sitesandsounds.com, will function much like other social networking services such as Facebook and Twitter; its main difference being that it will be used exclusively by musicians who write and compose their own lyrics and music and wish to share them with others. Most importantly, by using this website, musicians will have a greater chance at being discovered by the music industry who will have the opportunity to monitor the website.
On sitesandsounds.com, people will be able to add and accept friends and have a profile with their name, photo, and bio like every other social networking service, but all other facets of the website will be music related.  People will have the ability to upload audio files or videos of their songs and music, make online recordings, post the location of future gigs, join specific music genre groups according to their interest, and much more. Sitesandsounds.com will also be similar to websites like Linkedin because people will have the opportunity to connect with people in the music industry and perhaps even find jobs.
